Clinic renovation fundraising in the home stretch

MILLINOCKET – With the recent golf tournament wrapped up, figures are now in for the status of the financial progress of Millinocket Regional Hospital’s Oncology Clinic renovation.
Currently, the amount the hospital has raised through gracious donations and a multitude of fundraisers is $98,400, leaving $101,600 more to raise in order to fully fund the $500,000 renovation. A $300,000 grant from the NextGen Foundation started the drive.
The Millinocket region has been very active in working to raise the funds to make this renovation possible, and many groups, businesses, and organization have stepped up to pitch in and share the load including Brookfield, Katahdin Federal Credit Union, the Elks Lodge and the Northern Timber Cruisers among others. Katie Mackin, Marketing Director for MRH, said the community is supporting the project on many levels.
“We’ve had a number of donations made recently in memory of two gentlemen who recently passed from cancer,” Mackin said. “This has brought in a numerous donations and we are so grateful that these families chose this project to honor their loved ones’ memories,” she said.
Currently, the project is scheduled to begin in September and will run concurrently with the renovation at the library. The contractor, Nickerson and O’Day, is fully staffed that time of year and is very able to handle the workload that both projects will entail.
