MANAGER OF EMERGENCY AND INPATIENT SERVICES

Millinocket Regional Hospital has an opening for a Manager of Emergency and Inpatient Services:

QUALIFICATIONS:  Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.  Licensed Registered Nurse in State of Maine.  Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.  Relevant background in Emergency Department and/or Acute/Critical Care setting required, five years clinical experience in Emergency Department and/or Acute/Critical Care setting preferred. Managerial or Supervisor experience strongly preferred.  At least one certification (Emergency Nursing, Critical Nursing and/or Nursing Leadership) preferred. BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC certification required or obtained within 6 months.

MAIN FUNCTIONS:  As a member of Nursing Administrative Team, responsible for planning, directing, coordinating and evaluating the overall clinical nursing practice of the Emergency and Inpatient Services Departments.  Primary duties include management of human and financial resources, and optimal quality outcomes for clinical care and patient/family experience.  Must demonstrate inter-professional collaboration with physicians, hospital leadership team members, and external agency employees to maintain, grow, and develop services lines and support community emergency care activities. Achievement of standardization of processes and services across departments to maximize utilization of resources and patient throughput. Work with Medical Director of Emergency department to advance reputation of Emergency Services within the community, report quality measures and improve clinical and operational effectiveness of Emergency Department, serve as an advocate for quality patient care, excellent patient experience, and staff safety, and guide departments’ process improvement projects.  Perform annual evaluations on all direct reports and performs administrative tasks as assigned.  Facilitates Clinical Leader/direct report leadership development and supports leaders to achieve optimal operational effectiveness. Communicates team expectations, is knowledgeable of daily operations of each department, demonstrates excellent customer service, and demonstrates communications skills and ability to transfer those skills and methods to staff members. Demonstrates excellent time management skills, critical thinking, analytical skills, and clinical competencies.  Participates in strategic planning at department and Hospital level and other duties as assigned.by VP of Patient Services/Chief Nursing Officer.
