  • MRH issues statement on Covid-19 virus

By Robbie McKay   Lincoln News • March 19, 2020

MILLINOCKET – With the arrival and spread of the COVID-19 virus, Millinocket Regional Hospital has issued a statement relating to the changes now in effect in their organization.
Katie Mackin, marketing director for MRH said on Tuesday that preparedness is crucial in times like these.

“Though we have yet to have a confirmed positive test here in the Katahdin Region, it’s imperative that we are proactive and take action now to prevent the spread of COVID-19 before it hits our community,” Mackin said.

As of Tuesday morning, March 17, the state is confirming 32 cases.

On March 13, MRH instituted a “no visitor” policy that will remain in effect until further notice. The hospital is also asking those who are accompanying patients to appointments as well as those transporting them to wait in their vehicles rather than the waiting rooms.

MRH is maintaining its high standards for sanitation, and is working diligently to ensure that the highest quality medical care is delivered safely to its patients while protecting its employees and providers. Face masks, tissues, and hand sanitizers are located throughout the facility and at clinics and provider offices.

The hospital will be screening, and people exhibiting symptoms of the virus will be isolated and treated accordingly. Individuals who suspect they may have the virus or are exhibiting symptoms are urged to call their provider before traveling to the facility.

MRH has shared a great deal of information on its website mrhme.org and lists steps you can do to protect yourself against the virus, including thorough hand washing, covering your cough, and sanitizing surfaces.
